Great Bike That Can Grow With You.
For $500, I couldn't be happier. It is a great entry level bike with lots of solid parts. It does come out a bit heavy out of the box, but I can't complain at this price. To take the bike to the next level and drop the weight, I would change the front and rear shock with Bucklos front fork (9x100mm QR) and DNM rear shock (165mm Eye to Eye). For a little bit more, you can get lighter pedals and seat. It'll take the overall bike cost to $800, but it will out perform any entry level hardtail bike at a local bike shop for less. Keep in mind, the out of the box version is still a great bike for learning and you can upgrade part by part as your skills upgrade.

Excited to Sad in ten minutes!
Bike was delivered on time. Box was pretty beat up but when I opened it the bike LOOKED to be well packaged. While putting it together the first real red flag I found was the seat and seat post would not slide into the frame. The frame looked to be too small. I used a digital micrometer to check the seat post it was 27.21 this is what it should be. The frame was 26.98 too small! Also checked the Mongoose seat post on my wifes GT bike it slid in fine, same size post both bikes. The GT seat also didnt fit into the X2 frame? After using a large screwdriver to massage the opening larger I had to use a LOT of grease and a TON of muscle I was able to force the post down into the frame. After doing this over and over I was able to get it in completely, but it still takes a lot of force to make any adjustments in height in either direction, as well as scratching the seat post terribly. This is super concerning to me because I bought the bike with the intent on installing a dropper post but have no idea if one will even function if I cram it down into this frame? I finished the build noticing small things like brake misaligned, and pedals that dont spin but just assume that is what to expect at this price point of bike and can be easily corrected. I jumped on the bike to pedal down my driveway and made it about two feet before the chain and gears started binding together. I looked at the derailleur and saw a broken part in the rear section. I looked through the box and found the part that had been broke off , it was the B adjustment screw. Called pacific cycle they told me it was on back order until mid November, thats like 3 1/2 months. Told them thats not going to work they instructed me to call Wal Mart. I did. The people at WalMart said to box it up and they would pick it up and ship me another. So its back in the box waiting for its replacement. The bike looks to have a lot of potential, the quality control on the frame issues are a problem to me. The broken parts due to shipping might have been prevented with more care in packing but the box was tore open right at the spot where the derailleur was so I can understand things happen. I asked the person at Walmart if they could just credit me $ and I would get an aftermarket part but they declined. I figured it would be better than shipping it back and shipping a new one? I will wait and see how the next one comes out of the box? Wanted to love it butt still have doubts? If the next one has seat tube sizing issues I might just send it back as well knowing I will be irate if a dropper post wont fit and function a few weeks down the road when Im upgrading the many parts I have on order for this thing. Wish I could say more as to quality of the components but I only rode it a few feet?? Hope this helps , sorry its negative but its the truth.

    Good bike, poor assembly.
While I liked that the bike was delivered assembled, I disliked that there was no user manual or warranty information included with the delivery which makes me think this was someones return. Most of the assembly was satisfactory but not all. For instance, the bracket that attaches the seat to the the seat post is so tight I have yet been able to loosen the bolt to adjust the seat to my liking. Perhaps an impact driver will take care it. Additionally the hardware that attaches the brake cables to the brake levers were loose. Yikes! Always check someone else's assembly, it could be the difference between a good first experience or a catastrophic one.

Bad gear shifter and uneven rim.
Put the bike together and was getting ready to ride it for the first time and notice that my front wheel was uneven. I thought maybe this could be the tire and not the rim but the rim was actually off when I would spin it. Then I tried to switch the gears and the gear selector would not change through all of the gears. Very disappointed after experiencing this from the beginning.

I think it is a great bike, unfortunately mine was delivered with a lot of scratches and damaged gear selector.

    INSANE DEAL!!
Better, than you already think it will be. SHOCKING at this price point or double.....Looks even better in person.I also own a Schwinn Axum DP...both are now completely overhauled, for $500 more for each. At or below 1k on each...similiarly speced out hardtails start at $1500, for just the 500 more on the ledge similiar spec is around 2k....INSANE deal....mine orderd on 4/29/23 came with a Falcon clutched derailuer, not Pro Rush, and the hubs are aluminum!!!!! Not steel this go around.Kev Central mentioned steel hubs and a Pro Rush derailuer.

this is either 2 things..a great entry level bike if your just starting out in the mtb world or 2 a great bike if you like doing budget builds and upgrading. Out of the box with the components its has it good enough to get the job done. But it has tons of potential to upgrade to a worthy mtb in my opinion. Def worth it.

    Maintenance required
Before riding, DIY or have a shop adjust all the bearings, wheel bearings, bottom bracket bearings, head tube bearings. Everything is over tightened including the disc brake rotors screws which could also be stripped. Rear shock bolts greased and tensioned properly. Remove the tires and rim strip and check the spoke holes for sharp burrs that will eventually cut into the tube. Front forks have no effective adjustment and have just a pogo stick action. Tires are unbranded and flimsy. If you plan on upgrading all these parts you'll have a decent bike.

Great XC bike or platform to upgrade for Trail rid
Purchased to upgrade into an affordable trail bike, at 5'8" the geometry is near perfect for me. The frame is well made from the welds to the metal bushings in the rear travel as well as the internal cable routing, it's a really nicely made affordable frame. My Gravity which this will replace was a Small/Medium frame, this being a full Medium is a much better fit for me.
