Dell still can't make a decent dock
Doesn't charge my laptop unless I unplug and replug the power cord in the dock after connecting my laptop. If I forget, Windows seems to suggest it is charging but the battery percentage slowly drops until I get the "Your batter is critical" warning at about 10% which reminds me of this dock's quirk. Don't get me wrong, it's better than the WD15 and the TB16, but transferring files to a USB stick seems to overload my Latitude 5491's USB ports, and my keyboard/mouse act bizarrely until the file transfer has finished. That may just be a problem with the poorly-designed laptop instead of the poorly-designed dock though.

    Excellent compact dock
Definitely one of the best compact docks from Dell.... great solution to organize your wires :) wired network, additional monitor, external HDD dock, trackball usb receiver, supplied PSU, MCU programmer and USB hub (yes, unfortunately there is little bit shortage on USB ports :) ) - all connected and only wire coming to my XPS15 is dock connection wire, ThunderBolt one, delivering power and all peripheral communications at really amazing speeds. There was one concern and question regarding site description ("prepare for Future"), which far overseas "tech support" couldn't answer - all WD19 docks (regular, DC, TB) have exactly the same body including all peripheral ports and power input and "header" part, which is attached to body (couple screws) and has connection wire pigtail towards PC and is either regular USB C or ThunderBolt (in case WD19TB), supplied with different size PSUs - 130W, 180W or 210W (as I remember for DC)... in fact, you can order any of PSU separate from Dell, but there was no clear answer regarding detachable part of the dock - is there option to order those parts separate as additional or not? if not, I don't see the reason it is designed to be detachable at all :)

Future-proof dock that works with all Dell laptops
A modern dock with TB3 (thunderbolt 3) connection to the computer along with good selection of other ports. These include ethernet, USB-C, TB3, 2xDP1.4, HDMI, audio, several USB. I use it to connect my Dell XPS 13" 9300 (2020) laptop to a monitor and peripherals including backup USB drive. All works well. Very well. It includes power charging of the laptop. The TB3 connection can be plugged in or removed any time and charging starts and stops naturally. This covers a TB3 driver, or maybe hardware, fault in the XPS 13" 9300 (not other XPS's) that prevents plug-n-play power charging with many other modern TB3 docks. I initially bought another TB3 dock and found the plug-n-play power charging didn't work. Dell forums indicated this was a fault in the XPS's TB3 implementation (not other models) and was unlikely to be fixed. Long story to say finally I've found a TB3 dock that fully works with a XPS 13" 9300 (2020).

    Great with Precision 7540
After updating the drivers, the dock came to life immediately and flawlessly (with a Precision 7540) with a single HDMI monitor and several USB peripherals. I do wish for more USB ports, and the somewhat limited Thunderbolt power to the Precision requires plugging in both 180W power supplies. Unlike old docks, one might also need a laptop stand to put the keyboard at an angle.

    Needs Work
Works, sort of. If you disconnect from the dock and then reconnect it doesn't recognize the USB keyboard and mouse plugged into the dock. I've tried multiple combinations, but none will work. I have to open the lid, login, wait then connect the dock. 4 out of 5 times this will work. Love my Dell XPS 13 2 in 1, do not love this dock.

WD19TB, Thoughts from a power user (IT Director)
Full Disclaimer - I was provided this dock to test by Dell. This has to be one of the best docking solutions I've ever used. The ease and simplicity of only having one cable to connect to my laptop (specifically with the Thunderbolt model) makes mobility very convenient. No more plugging and unplugging USB, video, ethernet, etc. I don't even have to open my laptop to power it on, just plug it in and it fires right up. When I'm done for the day, power down, unplug one cable and it's in my bag and out the door. My only complaint is the advertised ability to use 3x 4K monitors. I have 3x 1440p monitors hooked up to it and the only way to get full res out of all three is to use the 2x Displayport connections and the Thunderbolt (USB - C) connection as a display. You can't use the USB - C display out port if you are using the adjacent HDMI port, which is a real bummer. They even show in the setup guide that it can handle 4x monitors, but only if they are FHD resolution or below. But that one nitpick won't keep me from highly recommending this dock to anyone with a laptop that has a Thunderbolt connection. And while I have not utilized the built PCIe NVME slot in the dock, I do think that is an excellent additional to an already amazing piece of gear.

Works great for my XPS 15 - 7590
I was totally intimidated about setting this docking station up after reading the reviews. There are actually some really good links on Dell that give you step-by-step instructions on how to set it up. My first roadblock came when I was updating the BIOS on my Dell XPS 15 7590. I had done the other recommended updates no problem, but kept getting error messages when updating the bios. I called Dell and they figure out right away that I was not plugged into a power supply. I guess you can do regular updates not plugged in, but for bios updates you have to be plugged in. After that it was all pretty easy setting it up. As soon as I plugged in my monitors, keyboard, speakers, it was immediately recognized by the docking station. Dell had recommended a different docking station for my laptop, but after researching it on-line I found out that it would not charge the laptop. This one will charge it through the thunderbolt connection. I set up two monitors, speakers and a keyboard no problem. I went into my laptop's settings and changed it so that when I close the lid on my pc it will 'do nothing' instead of the default to go to 'sleep'. This set up allows me to close my laptop and slide it under the monitor stand to keep it out of the way while I work. If I don't change it to 'do nothing' then both monitors would go black when I closed the lid. I hope this helps. I am very happy with this whole set up and purchase of this docking station.

    Dell Thunderbolt Dock WD19TB
I give this dock 2 stars for 2 reasons. 1. Every time I start up my new Precision laptop it tells me the dock is under powered and may not charge. In fact, it tells me it may still use battery power while docked! This is the dock recommended by the Dell website when I purchased my laptop. 2. The USB RF transmitter/receiver for my wireless keyboard and mouse will not work plugged into the dock until the laptop is fully booted up and logged in. Since I boot on the dock with my laptop closed, I have no access to a keyboard to log in. A bit of a catch 22. I believe Dell owes me an explanation and the proper docks (I purchased 2) to operate may new Precision laptop.

Dock hardware is great, the Thunderbolt software is unreliable.
connection reliability with the Dock is low .. it seems to be a problem with the Thunderbolt software, which doesnt always recognize the laptop. This can be worrisome - when error messages appear but the dock still works - to downright frustrating when the TB sofware refuses to connect the laptop to the peripherals. USB connected hardware, like mouse and keyboard, seem to be affected most frequently. Its definitely a buggy product (specifically the TB software) and a challenge to use. But when it works right its awesome.
