I'm extremely pleased with this product. It works great for our situation. My father is very sick and he can't go outside. It has give us freedom to work in the yard or visit neighbors for more than five minutes without worrying he needs us. I make sure the radios are charged every night and that he has a radio with him when he is in another room in the house. He is on oxygen and gets his cord tangled in his chair a lot. This has really helped us . We bought two sets. The signal will reach about a mile but I'm never that far away.

I am going to tell you the good bad and ugly about this product. First off they are overall great for hunting, ATVs, and road trips. The PROs: • The headset is comfortable if you are used to wearing a blutooth all day anyway. •The VOX works great but not for hunting where you have to be really quite as you have to speak up a little to use VOX even on the lowest setting. •That being said the wisper mode is worth it's weight in gold in the woods, speak as quietly as you possably can and it comes out loud and clear to the person on the other side. •The fact that you can choose many different chanels and secure codes makes them great in crowded aeras. •I just used them in a hotel to contact the other room without having to call the cell or room phone, and they worked like a charm. •Takes both rechargeables and AA's I used them for three days on and off without the rechargabls going out on me. • with the headsets on they are compleatly silent. this is great for hunting. • I have used them on the ATV with and without the helment and they work great even at full speed. The CONs: • The range is not great, in town you get about a GPS mile of reception. and in the woods you get a little over a GPS mile. That being said most of the time you are within a mile of your hunting buddy, remember a mile is still a long way. • the animal calls are useless as a call they sound more like a distress call. I hope this has helped if you have any questions leave them here as I will check back often and answer anything that I can.

    Excellent range for handhelds
I bought these radios for use around the calving lots on my ranch. The range is great considering the terrain around my area. Between these handhelds and some mxt400s that I have in our feed trucks and rangers, I am set up perfectly for optimum communication! I highly recommend these radios.

    Great Features
I bought this about a month ago. I have yet to really use it. I will update my review once I do. I like the fact this came with a charger base that can both plug in at home and in my truck. The screen is very legible. I am new to GMRS radios, so that I what I need to start tinkering with. I did get my FCC license to accommodate this. I primarily bought this for hunting, but may use it for ATV riding and road trips (if possible).

    Easy to use and install
I bought this to use while we are on road trips with the family. The installation was very easy and its also easy to use. We coupled this with a pair of GXT1050VP4 radios. The clarity is great and the distance for clear communication has also been excellent.

    Great Value, Design & Features
We just bought this and already am very pleased with the purchase. The camouflage design makes it unique and great for being out in the woods, no shiny buttons to catch a glare. The radios works great and we especially love the weather channels. We bought ours for camping as well as emergencies, and this meets & exceeds our needs. Requesting a license from the FCC is a bit of a pain (they are slow moving), but otherwise everything about this radio set is all thumbs up. Our set came with headset, charger base that plugs in wall or with an adapter for 12v DC receptacle (cigarette lighter) batteries and belt clips.

    Above average radios
I haven't had a chance to use these extensively yet but very pleased so far. The FRS/GRMS flexibility id great and allows use of full power up to allowed limits. These have all of the features I need plus extras. I also ordered a base radio so we could keep track of our grandkids while camping.

Very durable and has an excellent battery life.
We have had these radios for a few weeks and they have performed excellently. We use them constantly from 6AM until 9pm with no battery issues. They have all survived numerous drops in the field and weather well. They are easy to program and have all the features we require. The only thing they lack is an external light feature which we were not aware of.

    Decent radios...
...as long as you remember these are 'line of sight' radios, and don't mistakenly believe they have a 30+mile range as advertised. I purchased these for hunting season here in Colorado and they served their purpose well. All our communtication was within a couple of miles and they worked fine...much better than some other name brand radios I have used in the past. Some reviews I had read on other websites mentioned battery problems so I ordered an extra set of rechargable batteries, just in case...I'm glad I did-one battery was weak right from the start. Over all, I was pleased with how these radios performed. One suggestion I would offer is to spend some time with the radios and the owners manual before you need to put them to use...there are lots of options to the radio menu and set-up, and it takes a little while to get things set where you want them.

Great way to stay in touch
This is our second set of the Midland 2-way radios and we mainly use them for communication around our property. When I am in the back field and it is getting close to lunch time - my wife knows all she has to do is give me a call on the radio and I will stop what I am doing and head for the house. We even use them for communication between the main level of our home and the basement, much easier than trying to raise your voice to a level where one can hear the other between floors. We do not get the range stated on the box but we are not in an area without obstructions - I assume over water they would be an excellent form of communication between shore and boat or boat to boat. We use these radios every day and at least 10 hours a day. Our first set made it for nealy 4 years before I managed to break the antenna off while working under the tractor. These radios are the best when it comes to staying in touch no matter what we are doing and they are very clear with no static.
