False/misleading product information: extended dual displays on Mac is not supported
The product description indicates that it can be used with 2 external displays on Mac. Reading both the product manual, as well as a blog post that specifically talks about the technical details, seems to support that conclusion. The manual states that you can't use the 2 DisplayPort ports in the back, you have to use 1 DisplayPort and the downstream Thunderbolt port. After setting things up in the recommended configuration, I was only able to get both displays working about 10% of the time. This includes power-cycling the dock, removing and reseating the power cord, and plugging in the cables in different orders and in different power states. There was nothing I could do that would get it to consistently output to 2 displays. I assumed that I must be doing something wrong or maybe I had a defective unit or needed a firmware update. I called Targus tech support, explained my problem and pointed the tech to the product description and technical articles. He said he would talk to engineering and get back to me. Here is the response I received "After speaking with our engineers they have determined that any configuration of the monitors will not be able to extend the monitors only mirror them. I am aware you were able to get this but since we do not guarantee that the monitors will extend there is nothing more we can do at this time." There you have it. The advertised configuration for Macs is not guaranteed to work and is not supported. Buy at your own risk.

    Great little unit
    This thing is solid, very well built, and will do everything you need it to do. It's great for running multiple monitors and wired peripherals if you're day-trading, and it's useful for design applications as well. I would definitely recommend.

    Thunderbolt 3 8K docking station is amazing. Since I've been working from home for the past 7 months the docking station has made it very convenient. I can attach multiple monitors and mouse to my Mac through the docking station.

    Awesome product
    Thunderbolt 3 8k video docking station with power delivery. I would give this product 4 out of 5 stars. I have this hooked up to my dell envi laptop and it works well. The dock is at the top of the market in comparison to other products and has a sleek new age design. It supports 2x 4k series monitors which a few times I had problems with one monitor after recovering from hibernation or sleep mode but other than that It has functioned perfectly. I do however wish they would have put the audio port on the back but also understandable due to the massive amount of HDMI USB and Ethernet ports on the back side. Overall a worthy product at the top of it's line.

    Set up was a breeze!
    I use this docking station to connect two monitors, a keyboard, a mouse, and my ethernet connection to my laptop. Set up was super easy right out of the box. It was very intuitive, It's obvious what cable goes where. There weren't many instructions that came with this docking station, but that's fine because I didn't need them. I like the small size. It fits easily in the corner of my desk. I also like the appearance of it. I am very impressed with this powerful little docking station.

    The easy quick start guide is easy to understand. I have the Thunderbolt 3 8K Docking Station with 85W Power Delivery to speed up and run more applications of my devices all at the same time. I have had a laptop, gaming computer, monitors, speaker and a cromebook all running separately(what a headache). This has pulled it all together. I like having the ability to connect the monitors to mirror my main screen if I want to. I also like the having a cludder free desktop. There is a port for everything. This is new to me and I will have fun learning how to run more applications at the same time. It comes with a three year warranty.

    Great Thunderbolt docking station!
    I have been looking for something to help me out with my design projects and the Thunderbolt 3 8K docking station fits the bill. It has everything I need to run my laptop onto another monitor for work...plus extras I don't think I'll need, but really like that I have the options. It's also compact which is great because my desk isn't so big.

    The Thunderbolt 3 8K Docking Station packs power in a little box. My husband is running 3 monitors off his computer. He needed an extra power source for external devices. This little powerhouse fit the call of duty. Although this gem is designed for so much more than what he uses it for, he will always have it on hand in case he needs it to run his monitors and computer.
